Day 3: Ups and Downs – A Day in the Life of a PhD Student on Semaglutide

Wake-Up Call

Today’s morning was not the usual early bird routine. I woke up quite late yesterday, and let me tell you, working late into the night and polishing off 2 packs of kuli-kuli has its drawbacks. For the uninitiated, think of kuli-kuli as a delicious late-night mistake.

Day 2 was an interesting ride. The formidable craving protection I enjoyed on Day 1 seemed to have taken a day off. Could it be because I jumped the gun and ate too soon after my dose? Mysteries of the Semaglutide universe.

Rain and Routines

Morning greeted me with a melancholy drizzle, making it impossible for a walk. I popped today’s dose at 10 am and decided to wait a solid hour before eating, just to make sure Semaglutide and my stomach had some quality bonding time.

Now, balancing a PhD is no joke. Tight deadlines meant my kitchen raids were brief. Dash in, grab edible items, retreat to the writing sanctuary. I know, I know, no pictures of ‘meals’, but then again, they aren’t really meals. I’m just making sure to not deprive myself of food joys, taking a page out of Manual.co’s book.

The Sedentary Saga

A day in my life as a PhD researcher? Imagine a marathon, but you’re seated. It’s intense, focused, and often my train of thought is more like a fragile thread that snaps if I stray too far from my desk. Gourmet meals are a luxury I can’t afford right now. My main course? Chicken. Gotta keep up with the protein and safeguard that hard-earned muscle mass.

Gym Diaries

Oh, how I love leg-press days! There’s a certain satisfaction in pushing my limits, and at a max of 207kg, I’ve come a long way. However, those 50 squats from Day 1 sent a memo to my knees. Today was about caution as much as it was about strength.

After the gym? The beast of hunger tried to lure me, but I was in control. A quick descent into the dream world followed. No wild side effects, and I’m lighter by 2 pounds. Granted, it’s probably water weight, but I’ll take it.

Is daily blogging about this odyssey worth it? I’m not sure, and to be frank, it’s a bit of a clock-eater. If my musings resonate with you, shout out in the comments. For now, I might switch to a weekly update. See you on Day 7!
