My life in India
Pink City, Rajasthan
Jaipur, popularly referred to as the “Pink City”, is the capital of the State of Rajasthan, India. It is known for its unique architecture, forts, palaces, art, culture and of course, its tasty cuisines.
Discovering Delhi – Differences
Sequel to my previous post, this focuses on the stark differences between Nigeria and India.
Power Supply
In Nigerian terms “India has light constantly”. Even driving by what appeared to be a slum, I notice bulbs shining brightly. The power supply has only gone off twice and I was surprised to hear myself say “NEPA has finally taken the light”. In about 5 minutes, power supply was restored. For someone who has endured erratic power supply all her life, there’s not much to say or compare with here except to express disappointment and pray that Fashola can redeem us.
Discovering Delhi – Survival Tips
I’ve been here for over 2 months now, touring and making a mental note of helpful information for you in case you ever find that you are heading this way. I’ll get to the point.
What to wear
In contrast to the information I found on the internet, dressing standards here are not as strict as I was lead to believe. However, you have to cover your cleavage. I’m not saying turtle neck but your “girls” must be covered. It’s confusing because exposed midriffs appear to be acceptable. A few temples require that your clothes cover your knees as well but that’s all I’ve seen.
Discovering Delhi – SWAMINARAYAN AKSHARDHAM COMPLEX
Delhi is home to a number of historic architectural monuments and I have visited a number of them, which I’ll tell you about in subsequent posts. However, nothing prepared me for the magnificence of the Akshardham Temple, making this a challenging post to articulate.
Discovering Delhi
Life has taken me on another adventure and guess where? India!
It’s my first time in Asia; Earth’s largest and most populous continent. For over a month now, I’ve been in Delhi, the capital territory. It is a massive metropolitan area north of the country, located much like Abuja is in Nigeria. It is bordered by Haryana which I’ve also had the opportunity to visit.
