Anker PowerCore 24k Review: The Ideal Travel Companion?

Anker PowerCore 24k Review

Hey, everyone! Welcome back to my blog, where I share my honest opinions on the latest gadgets and gizmos. Today, I’m going to review the Anker 737 power bank, also known as the PowerCore 24k.

Why did I opt for this beast of a power bank, you ask? Well, I’m prepping for an upcoming trip to London to renew my passport at the Nigerian High Commission. With rumors of the notorious long queues, I want to be equipped and ready to keep my phone alive. Plus, I’m definitely snagging some shots of the iconic Trafalgar Square! If you’re interested in how to navigate through the process of renewing your Nigerian passport in the UK, I have a dedicated post for that right [here](insert link here).

Before we proceed, it’s worth mentioning that I’m a huge fan of Anker products. Their durability and consistent performance have earned my trust over the years. But the real question is, will the Anker 737 PowerCore live up to the standards set by its predecessors? Let’s find out.

Firstly, let’s delve into the design. The Anker 737 is a suave black rectangle with rounded edges and a smooth matte finish. It boasts a LED display indicating the remaining battery percentage and a button for activating the fast charging mode. Four ports are present: two USB-A, one USB-C, and one DC. The USB-C port functions for both input and output, while the DC port is designed for input only. With the USB-A ports supporting Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and PowerIQ 2.0 technologies, they can determine the best charging speed for your device. The USB-C port, employing Power Delivery 3.0, can provide up to 100W of power to compatible devices. As for the DC port, it can adapt to a wide range of voltages from 5V to 20V, suitable for charging most laptops with the included adapter.

In the package, you’ll find the Anker 737, a travel pouch, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a DC to DC cable, and a DC adapter with eight interchangeable tips. These tips fit most laptop brands, such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, etc. However, MacBook or Surface laptop users will need to use their own cable or purchase a separate adapter.

Shifting focus to performance, the Anker 737 touts a 140W high speed input and output, indicating that it can charge itself in roughly 3 hours via the DC port or around 4 hours via the USB-C port. It also means it can fuel up your devices faster than most power banks on the market. For example, it can charge an iPhone 12 from 0% to 50% in merely 30 minutes using the USB-C port or 40 minutes via the USB-A port. A MacBook Pro can be boosted from 0% to 60% in only an hour using the USB-C port or two hours using the DC port.

Sounds promising, right? But here’s the catch. The Anker 737 seems to charge fast only with the Anker GanPrime charger. When paired with the Anker 737, the charging speed is super impressive. The power bank went from zero to 100% in 45mins. If speed is a top priority for you, this combo might be worth considering.

Now, let’s touch upon two additional points worth considering before purchasing. One, battery longevity. As with any battery-powered device, repeated cycles of charging and discharging could potentially affect the overall battery life over time. Two, device compatibility. Although the Anker 737 is designed to be widely compatible, it might still encounter issues with certain devices, so it’s essential to confirm compatibility with your specific gadgets

However, the Anker 737 does come with a relatively hefty price tag comparatively. Quality often comes at a cost, and this power bank is no exception. But is it worth the investment?

Personally, I view the Anker 737 as a suitable power bank for sporadic use or emergencies when swift charging is paramount. I plan to use it for my upcoming trip, but I wouldn’t select it as my daily go-to, it is somewhat heavy to take with me all the time. That said, your needs might be different.

That’s all for today’s review. If you found it helpful and informative, please give this post a thumbs up and share it with your friends.
