Food Photography: Ewedu and Yellow Pepper

I’ve been pleased and humbled by the comments and email responses on previous Food Photography posts here and I’m delighted to share more of my work with you. Inspired by an image on Pinterest, I decided to do this shoot with yellow pepper and a fork. I was taken by the simplicity of the concept; minimalist with strong contrast, and the clarity of the message.

Movie Review: Superfly

Priest is a young, quick-witted and successful drug dealer with retirement on his mind. He wants out of the game before he kills somebody or gets killed but its never that simple, is it?

How to Speak With an MTN Customer Representative in 15 Seconds or Less

Getting through to a Customer care representative on MTN Nigeria is almost as hard as trying to speak with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and gosh, I wish I were joking. You’ve got a problem with the service but the thought of reaching your service provider is daunting because when you finally get through, the Customer service system wastes your time with long recorded messages;

Movie Review: Traffick

John (Omar Epps) plans to propose to Brea (Paula Patton) his journalist girlfriend, and  so the couple sets out on a romantic weekend getaway in a lovely mansion isolated in the mountains. But that’s where things start to get crazy. But I’m saying too much already. If you haven’t seen Traffick, watch the trailer below and let’s talk.

Book Review: This Is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay

The truth: the hours are terrible, the pay is terrible, the conditions are terrible; you’re underappreciated, unsupported, disrespected and frequently physically endangered….but you are a low-grade superhero – your utility belt containing a scalpel, some tongs and a wipe-clean hoover

Food Photography: Okro Soup

I’ll be honest and admit that I wasn’t prepared for how beautiful this Okro looked on camera. Zooming in close, my lenses picked up on those tiny delicate hairs on the okro pod, giving so much texture to this simple vegetable. I fell in love with the pentagon shape of the okra slices and the small white seeds. I wish I had a proper micro lens so I could really capture the intricate details of this beautiful vegetable.

Book Review: Circe by Madeline Miller

Circe was a strange child, lacking any notable power, despite being a goddess. She was not street-smart, cunning or beautiful and so was ignored by her father, unwanted and despised by her nymph mother and siblings, and remained largely unknown. Circe struggled to navigate her world, understand the politics required to thrive in it and make a name for herself.

Movie Review: Tyler Perry’s Acrimony

hen she said “I gave him everything, and I was everything he needed me to be” I knew I had to see this movie. This is another one with our favourite girl Taraji P Hanson, and she had me feeling all kinds of ways in this movie, and I’m not even sure how to articulate this.

Food Photography: Rice and Stew

I decided to attempt dark food photography after being inspired by a Pinterest blog. My first attempt was a disaster because I couldn’t get my camera settings right, the black cardboard came out looking blue and I didn’t know as many Adobe Light room tricks as I do now.

Movie Review: Avengers: Infinity War

It’s here! The moment we’ve been waiting for. Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers team up to fight Thanos; their most powerful adversary yet!  His mission: to collect all six Infinity Stones and rebalance the universe. And as usual, our fate rests with the Avengers. You have to be living under a rock, on the moon, not to have heard about this movie because Thanos has gone and just about destroyed everywhere else!
