I want to be excited because “there is no place like home” but Murtala Muhammed Airport Abuja airport is the only one I’ve been to where you have to
In June 2015, news hit Nigerian media sites that Anita Solomon was pregnant by Maje Ayida, Toke Makinwa’s husband. The scandal lingered because his marriage to the media personality was only a year and six months old. Maje went on to make numerous public apologies on social media and gave an interview on the issue. However, Toke kept mum and has come up with this book a year after the scandal. This silence and mystery created a lot of buzz about the book which was released last week.

Sequel to my previous post, this focuses on the stark differences between Nigeria and India.
In Nigerian terms “India has light constantly”. Even driving by what appeared to be a slum, I notice bulbs shining brightly. The power supply has only gone off twice and I was surprised to hear myself say “NEPA has finally taken the light”. In about 5 minutes, power supply was restored. For someone who has endured erratic power supply all her life, there’s not much to say or compare with here except to express disappointment and pray that Fashola can redeem us.
I’ve been here for over 2 months now, touring and making a mental note of helpful information for you in case you ever find that you are heading this way. I’ll get to the point.
What to wear
In contrast to the information I found on the internet, dressing standards here are not as strict as I was lead to believe. However, you have to cover your cleavage. I’m not saying turtle neck but your “girls” must be covered. It’s confusing because exposed midriffs appear to be acceptable. A few temples require that your clothes cover your knees as well but that’s all I’ve seen.
Delhi is home to a number of historic architectural monuments and I have visited a number of them, which I’ll tell you about in subsequent posts. However, nothing prepared me for the magnificence of the Akshardham Temple, making this a challenging post to articulate.
I started smiling and waving at frowning tired motorists in traffic and often enough they waved and smiled right back. For some reason, this made me exceedingly happy.
Life has taken me on another adventure and guess where? India!
It’s my first time in Asia; Earth’s largest and most populous continent. For over a month now, I’ve been in Delhi, the capital territory. It is a massive metropolitan area north of the country, located much like Abuja is in Nigeria. It is bordered by Haryana which I’ve also had the opportunity to visit.
Turning 30 is a milestone every woman has an opinion about, most of which aren’t pleasant. I remember coming home on my 30th birthday feeling quite shocked about how good 30 felt. I had crowned the day by going Salsa dancing in Victoria Island and all that spinning and twirling had me dizzy with excitement about life.
Cosmetics have advanced significantly in recent years, boasting new beauty products that last longer, with a myriad of accompanying innovative application techniques, all aimed at improving what we look like. There’s no shortage of before and after pictures of happy clients by Nigerian make-up artists on Instagram, spotting dramatic transformations, particularly for weddings and other formal events.
Following my #NoMakeUp Challenge, it’s been 22 days without an ounce of makeup, no powder and accordingly, no eyebrows. So I think it’s fitting to tell you a bit about me and make up.
As a child, I loved to draw and paint. Before I could write, I could draw, connecting all the little bumps on our bedroom wall with pencil lines. It came naturally to me.
